‘I am a work in progress, and I am constantly evolving what I practice in my own life and therefore what I bring into my teaching and consultations. There are, however, some constants that remain foundational in what I practice and teach.
Coming back to ancestral and traditional principles and aligning with nature is a constant.
Here are some of the things that I have found are tenets we would all do best to live by:
- Get some sun daily
- Get cold regularly
- Get hot too
- Get out in Nature
- Fasting
- Move
- Breathe
- Get barefooted and feel the earth
- Sleep well
- Connect with your loved ones in real life
- Eat well – I recommend an ancestral approach
- Meditate and practice mindfulness – tune in to you
- Get off digital platforms that suck the life out of you
- Set your house in order before you criticise the world – Rule 6 Jordan Peterson’s ’12 Rules For Life’
- Play and creativity
- Do some hard stuff that challenges you
This last year I have loved delving into the work of Dr Paul Saladino from www.heartandsoil.co He is just one of many that I have studiously followed. I love that he says “hacks don’t work…just remember where you come from”. I love his practical, research and evidence-based approach. He provides so many links to studies. His advice is something that I have seen work well.
He says:
- Eat nose-to-tail – meat and organs
- Limit seed oils – just say no
- If overweight or have metabolic dysfunction reduce carbohydrates
- Avoid processed sugar
- Get fat from animals that have not been commercially raised
- Eat plants parts that are fruit – avocado, honey, olives, squash
- Avoid nuts, seeds, grains and legumes
- Eat grass-fed and finished meats
- Drink some bone broth every day
- Quality dairy, if not sensitive to it
- Eggs, if not sensitive
There is no one-size-fits all. There is not one approach to suit everyone. However, this approach is something that I have seen people, once they get the hang of, get great results with when other approaches have not worked for them. By results I mean body weight optimisation and the improvement or resolution of chronic health conditions.
One thing is for sure, if you want different results…you have got to do different things.
If 2021 is your year to improve your health and wellbeing…then I am here to help. Connect with me or BOOK an appointment to get on track. We need to remember what is important to us and then act accordingly in life. If we say that health is important, but we constantly eat junk and watch junk then what is really important is certainly not our health. What we truly value we will do our best to prioritise given the resources we have.
So, let us do the things that bring us health.
