Naturopathy
Naturopathy is a WHOLISTIC approach to wellness. Naturopaths believe that the body has an inherent ability to heal itself given the right conditions. Naturopaths use a variety of treatments and therapies to encourage the body’s own ‘vital force’ to correct illness and maintain health.
We use herbs, homoeopathy, nutrition, diet and lifestyle practices, to name a few. As a naturopath who is also a Yoga teacher I am inspired by a Yogic and Ayurvedic approach to creating and maintaining optimum health. I may include therapeutic Yoga, Meditation, Reiki and Shiatsu as part of your treatment.
Together we will take a good look at your life and find the best way for you to create wellness. We’ll check out what you are eating and drinking, what you are doing for fitness and fun, assess your stress levels and find effective ways to relax, calm down and get things done.
I use the latest in preventative medicine testing, thorough case history taking and assessment and then create an individualized plan to help you achieve your health goals.
“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have the safest way to health” ~ Hippocrates
It is about finding what is going to work for you!
Inspiring you to do what it takes is my strength. With a little knowledge and encouragement we can all take the step to live well and love life.
What Happens In an Appointment?
If you have a chronic and complex condition it is best to start with a long consultation of 1.5 hours. We will go through a thorough case history where I will ask you all about your health and your goals for wellbeing. If you have any pathology test results bring copies with you so I can look at them from a functional health perspective. Bring a list of all medications and supplements that you currently take. We look at physical, mental, emotional and lifestyle aspects of your life. I will design a protocol to suit you. If you are following-up with me or think you don’t need a long appointment then 1 hour is suitable. A quick follow-up is for supplement and progress reviews, any questions and to review your prescriptions, and for acute (non-emergency) cases.
Iridology
Iridology is the study of health via an examination of the colour and structure of the iris, the sclera and the pupil using an iriscope and camera.
The iris is the most complex external structure of the human anatomy. It has a reflex connection to every organ and tissue of the body by way of the nervous system. It has been said: “the eyes are the windows of the soul”.
No two irises are exactly alike. In fact, each iris is as individual as your fingerprint. The colour and pattern of the iris fibres will determine underlying inherent weakness, which may or may not be activated according to diet, environment and psycho-social factors. Iridology can be used to determine potential health problems at the earliest stage. This enables you an opportunity to prevent illness and maintain optimum wellness.
Functional Testing
I use functional and modern pathology and other testing when required. Tests can be expensive and it is prudent to know when to use them, which tests can be of use, and how to correctly interpret the results.

Hands-On Bodywork Therapy
I am trained and experienced in several forms of body work and hands-on therapies.
Zen Shiatsu
Zen Shiatsu is a form of bodywork administered by thumbs, fingers, palms and elbows, feet and knees. The sucess of the treatment depends on the meditative activity of the practitioner. It is aimed especially at detecting the body responses to the treatment, which then influences the subsequent treatment step by step. Pressure is applied to all parts of the body along specific pathways (meridians). These are essentially the same meridians that are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for acupuncture, though modified and extended by the originator of the technique, Shizuto Masunaga. It is understood that this technique stimulates the natural healing powers of the body, wherefore symptoms of disease lessen and vitality is regained.
Reflexology
Lie back, put your feet up and enjoy! This treatment feels great on your feet and has a reflex action on other parts of your body. Reflexology can support you to relieve pain and assist in symptoms of health conditions. Hands and ears also have reflex points.
Reiki
Reiki is a healing practice that originated in Japan about100 years ago. It was created by a Buddhist Monk named Mikao Usui. A Reiki therapist/practitioner can direct energy into their patient with their hands and this, in turn, activates the body’s natural healing processes restoring both physical and emotional health. The term Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words Rei, meaning Universal life, and Ki, meaning energy.
Ear Candling
Traditional ear candling to treat blocked ears, ear problems including tinnitus. I used to do this clinically and am now including it again…as it really seems to give some much needed relief. I forgot how nice it is and how well my clients say it works.
It’s not a cure…and it does not make any medical claims, however, what people say is:
- It’s so relaxing
- My ears feel better I have less ringing in my ears
- The water in my ear seems to be gone now
- Less sinus pressure
- Relieved my itchy ears
For troublesome ear problems I recommend seeing your GP or an auricular specialist.
It’s mostly relaxing and I offer Reiki at the same time.
If you would like a professional and experienced ear candling session I am happy to provide this service.
Includes the cost of the ear candles.
Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy is an emerging healthcare profession. It is a one-on-one experience of being empowered to progress towards improved health and wellbeing through the application of the teachings and practices of yoga with a certified yoga therapist.
As a Yoga Therapist I use yogic practices, tools, and philosophies to address mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual imbalances, or ‘dis-ease’ in the individual.
In an individual session I take an in-depth case history and conduct an individual assessment with you in a formal intake process. I then design a yoga therapy practice suited to you and continue to assist you with a dynamic, ongoing therapeutic relationship. I continuously adapt your practice to your changing needs and empower you in your journey toward self-healing and wellbeing.
Yoga Classes
More than just getting into fancy poses on a mat – yoga is about practicing breath AWARENESS, letting the distractions of the mind go and focusing on connecting body and breath. Yoga is about how we show up in life…a way of living according to virtues that serve self, others and the planet. It is a code of conduct for living well that is simple, achievable and provides results that make us feel ‘better’. The physical practice of postures opens up our body and our mind. As our body softens and we go deeper into postures we find ourselves going deeper into our selves. As we develop strength of body we find our mental and emotion resilience is improved. Yoga gives us a way to discover ‘who we are’ and gives us the gift of peace of mind!
Meditation
Keep it SIMPLE! It does not have to be hard! Many of us do not find it easy to relax and let things go. Meditation gives us the ability to do this with greater ease. There are many different styles of meditation – sitting in silence, mantra meditation, moving meditation, mandala meditation – discover which one suits you best. The steps to the state of meditation can be learnt with some gentle guidance…then just practice! The benefits are worth it…peace of mind and improved wellbeing. Meditation is the experience of a still mind and access to Buddhi – higher consciousness.
Mindfulness
We all have ‘off days’…learning to live well is all about learning ways to ensure that those days are few and far in between. Being the best you, requires idientifying what is important to you and determining what VIRTUES you need in order to live well. The ancient practice of Yoga gives us clues as to how to best live so that we experience the most peace in life possible. When we learn to be present and see things as they are we experience less discord and more harmony. Being happy 100% of the time is not what life is all about…but accepting what is, learning to be content and taking appropriate action is a way to feeling better along this journey of life.
